Oklahoma’s Biggest Loser Danny Cahill changes body again
TULSA – His weight loss transformation last year was nothing short of amazing. now, Broken Arrow native Danny Cahill has another surprise.
Week, after week the pounds dropped off Cahill. 239 pounds total. He lost 56-percent of his body weight in seven months to become the Biggest Loser. His infectious smile and compassion for his teammates made fans feel *nothing* could get under his skin.
“With me, it’s just an irritation more than anything,” Cahill said. His irritation is his skin. Pounds of it left hanging from the rapid and massive weight loss.
“People see me out in public and they say ‘oh, you don’t look bad.’ well, it’s because I wear a girdle,” Cahill said.
So, Danny made the decision to undergo skin removal surgery. “The doctors said it would be like a butterfly coming out of a cocoon. I don’t know if I’ll look as good as a butterfly,” Cahill said.
Doctors spent seven hours in the operating room and removed 10 pounds of skin, which is six square feet. They even had to create a new belly button.
Danny says he feels like he’s finally shut the door on obesity. “When I had the skin and looked down there was still the remembrance of the 430 pounds that haunted me. now, I feel like I’ve run through the door and it’s still there and I’m not going back,” Cahill said.
He has shed the emotional scars, for a few physical ones. He feels better, and looks better. All which will bode well for him in the spring, when he heads to Maui. He’ll be on the beach shirtless for the first time in decades, renewing his vows with his wife. “She’s the reason that I was able to do all of this. so, this is going to cement for her and me a new beginning for our whole family,” Cahill said.
The journey still isn’t over for Danny. He’s looking to have more surgery to remove the skin from his back and legs. and he’s staying busy, he’s started a motivational blog loseyourquit.com and is working on a book.
